Corporate profile
THE COMPANY: Headquartered in Delta, British Columbia (Canada), Napier Environmental Technologies Inc. researches, develops, manufactures and sells new technologies to replace existing environmentally hazardous chemicals commonly used for de-coating surfaces and for wood restoration.
HISTORY: Formed in 1990, Napier has invested considerable resources in researching, developing and bringing to market a range of sophisticated de-coating chemicals for both industrial and consumer applications. The products have been extensively tried and tested in several industries and have surpassed the expectations of customers.
STRATEGY: Napier's primary objective is to identify specific industry niches in which the use of potentially harmful chemical formulations are being met with growing resistance through government regulation, labor practice codes and environmental lobby groups. It has focused its efforts on the development of products that surpass current accepted standards for quality, performance and safety. The company is currently opening new markets through a series of global alliances, and is poised for considerable growth in the years ahead. Napier's goal is to be the global leader in the supply of environmentally friendly surface preparation products.
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE: The vast majority of other surface stripping products rely on harsh chemicals that are foul smelling and toxic. The main chemical agent used in those products is methylene chloride, which has been classified by the Environmental Protection Agency as a potential cause of cancer in humans. Napier products lift the surface coating through a water-based, patented process called SARA Technology (Selective Adhesion Release Agent) that is much safer - and easier - to use. It was originally developed to strip the finish off jet airplanes.
PRODUCTS: Napier private labels a wide range of surface stripping products and has also developed its own line of consumer products (RemovALL and BioWash). All products are manufactured in the company's 60,000 square foot plant in Delta, British Columbia.
MARKETS: Roughly 55% of Napier's sales are generated from the sale of consumer-based products to North American markets. Industrial applications account for the remaining 45% of sales, and originate from international distributors and major contractors targeting aviation & aerospace, construction, historical restorations, concrete floors, railcars, asbestos removal & containment, and lead abatement.
TRADES: Napier trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol T-nir.
